The Authors
The Women Behind Tenacity:
Three Voices, One Mission

Julie, Marilyn, and Michelle are three women with a story that’s as remarkable as the one they’ve written. The idea for Tenacity started with a phone call and quickly became a project close to their hearts. Brought together by shared loss and a belief in the healing power of telling their truths, they set out to create something that could bring comfort and understanding to others.
Writing wasn’t easy. They met in country pubs to share their experiences and truly understand one another’s heartbreak, before gathering around kitchen tables as single mums with a laptop and a dream. What began as slow, cautious conversations turned into a heartfelt collaboration. After years of effort and over 300 rejections from publishers, their determination paid off.
This book isn’t just a story for them; it’s proof of the strength that comes from connection, resilience, and hope. Through Tenacity, they’ve created something that inspires and comforts those navigating their challenges, just as they did. For Julie, Marilyn, and Michelle, it’s a labour of love they hope reaches everyone who needs it.

A Glimpse Into Tenacity
Moments That Define Us

The Moment of Relapse
Today was a lucky day. Tomorrow I am due in court, and the chances of me not going to jail are slim. I thought I should make it a day to remember, but unfortunately, I would remember it for all the wrong reasons. Then I came around—or to put it correctly, my uncle Pete pulled me back to life. I wasn’t breathing; they had to breathe for me. The shame and the fear of what I had done hit me like a wave, but it was too late to undo it. I had let everyone down again.
The Unrelenting Grip of Addiction
Addiction is an ugly, ugly beast, and it is very hard to deal with. I do tend to give people many chances because I know how hard it is to fight. But watching someone you love go through it is like living in a constant state of grief. You mourn the person they used to be while clinging to the hope that they’ll come back. It’s a cruel, unrelenting cycle, and it takes everything you have just to keep going.
A Family Torn Apart
Scott was turning into a lovely young man. He had a kind nature, and we had a strong bond. We could talk about anything to each other and could even read each other’s minds. But as the addiction took hold, that bond began to fray. The boy I knew was slipping away, and in his place was someone I didn’t recognise—someone who lied, who stole, who hurt the people who loved him most. I wanted to save him, but I didn’t know how. Every day felt like a battle, and I was losing him piece by piece.

Amazon Customer2016-08-08Verified Review of book "Tenacity" by Julie Rose and Michelle & Sarah Cowell This is a really riveting eye-opening book telling the stories of two talented young men who were both addicted to hard drugs. The accounts of the lives of both men are fascinating (written by mother and sister - I won't give away details), but the histories of the two families, and then how they were affected by drug addiction, is equally gripping. Reading about the love and support and struggles of these families makes it clear how much drug addiction takes over and changes lives. Anyone interested in drug addiction issues, from whatever perspective, will find themselves glued to this book - you won't put it down ! I've known both authors especially Julie a long time and remember Scott when he was a young lad. Also know Stan very well and can only describe the family as lovely, down to earth people that should never have had to go through this. As a family member of mine has an addiction it gave me a real insight on how to never give up, this is not all about drug usage ,it's about caring families trying to find a way out, heartbreaking,Definitely a 5 star book. Especially as I live in the Park North area and I am a recovering addict-compulsive gambling. I have friends recovering from the three additions, drugs; drink and compulsive gambling- all at different stages in their recovery and some of them having not only one, but the three addictions. The book reflects two aspects to me; never give up giving up, and, the addiction could hit you at anytime. I see signs of drug activities, alcoholism and compulsive gambling all over Swindon.I was pleasantly surprised when I realised that I knew Julie and have been in touch regularly with Michelle recently. This book depicts the pain and perseverance of the friends and family of the addict. For help with compulsive gambling, visit [...]This book has helped me in my recovery at a time when I needed it.My hope is that Government and local government authorities will recognise compulsive gambling as an addiction alongside alcoholism and drug addiction.Showing our latest reviews
